These are some of my favourite websites which I often recommend: For lots of useful places check out the leaflet which I created for families in Hertfordshire- but which has many national links.

General

American Academy of Paediatrics  (www.aap.org)

Has a lot of information and advice for families on all child health matters.

NICE (www.nice.org.uk) produce guidelines on many childhood illnesses and conditions. The site can be a little hard to navigate. Their guidance on febrile illness in children is very helpful – although it is written for healthcare professionals, it does have useful information for families (http://www.nice.org.uk/nicemedia/live/11010/30524/30524.pdf)

Contact a Family (www.cafamily.org.uk ) provides information about almost every condition you can think of. It also has contact details of relevant support groups.

Toileting issues

ERIC (www.eric.org.uk ) Is an outstanding resource for families. They have moderated children’s pages which many children find helpful.

Epilepsy

There are two excellent sites- epilepsy action (www.epilepsy.org.uk) and epilepsy research UK (www.epilepsyresearch.org.uk ).

Migraine

The migraine trust  (www.migrainetrust.org.uk )

Allergy

Kidsaware (www.kidsaware.co.uk) offer a wide range of stickers, T-shirts, school bags etc that make life a bit easier for an ‘allergic family’
